The “Renert” (fox) is the emblematic animal chosen by the poet and national novelist Michel Rodange (1827-1876) to express his vision of the Luxembourg society in the nineteenth century. Inspired by Goethe's "Reineke Fuchs" and Aesop's and La Fontaine's stories, this "national epic" of 14 songs represents a social satire barely masked under metaphors and animal figures, written in Luxembourgish language.
The original “Renert” sculpture, designed in 1932 by the sculptors Demuth and Grosber, is preciously preserved in the Museum of History of the City, while a faithful copy stands on Place Guillaume.
MUSEAL Editions has designed a small sculpture in reconstituted stone in the 3 colors of the national flag (Red, White and Blue), bringing to the work a touch of modernity.
